What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition that manifests as visible redness and blood vessels in the face. There are a few different types of rosacea, but they most commonly show up in the center of the face on areas like the cheeks and nose. Sometimes, it can look similar to acne and even cause pimples and red bumps. Rosacea is a long-term skin condition and doesn’t currently have a cure.

What Causes Rosacea?

The exact causes of rosacea still aren’t well understood. Some of the proposed causes include immune responses, skin mites, reactions to skin proteins, and certain types of bugs. Some factors can make people more likely to have rosacea, like family history, chronic acne, and light skin tone. Anyone can have rosacea, however.

Rosacea tends to flare up with certain triggers. Some of the most common include:

  • Alcohol
  • Hot drinks
  • Spicy foods
  • Sun and wind
  • Exercise
  • Medications
  • Skin and hair products

What are My Treatment Options for Rosacea?

Rosacea is best treated with a multifaceted approach that includes professional treatments, rosacea-friendly skincare, and managing your specific triggers. Our team will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan based on your needs.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL is an effective way to reduce redness and visible blood vessels that come with rosacea. It works by targeting the red pigment in blood vessels with light energy pulses, generating heat and damaging the tissue. This causes the blood vessels to fade from the surface of the skin. It can also help alleviate swelling and pimples that sometimes accompany rosacea.

Professional Skincare Products

A rosacea-friendly skincare regimen can help prevent flare-ups and manage redness. We offer a variety of professional-grade skincare product systems designed specifically for redness and rosacea, and our team can help you create an effective at-home regimen.

How Can I Maintain My Results from Rosacea Treatment?

The best way to treat rosacea is by preventing flare-ups. Our team will help you explore possible triggers and find ways to manage redness. It’s important to keep your skin protected from sun exposure by wearing SPF 30+ daily. Additionally, our team can help you find the right skin and hair products that won’t cause irritation or inflammation. Rosacea typically requires ongoing management, so our team will ensure you understand when to return for additional treatments.
