What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a simple skincare treatment that exfoliates the skin by “shaving” it with a surgical scalpel. Dermaplaning goes deeper than traditional shaving, however, because it removes the dead skin cells and debris that build up on the surface of the skin. By removing the topmost layer of the skin, it creates a smoother texture and a more radiant look – as well as removes fine “peach fuzz” hairs that grow on the face. Dermaplaning both reveals healthy new skin and stimulates the production of new collagen, leading to a reduction in concerns like fine lines, pigmentation, and dryness.
Your Customized Dermaplaning Consultation
Dermaplaning is a quick and easy treatment that can be performed on most skin types and tones – even patients who might not otherwise be good candidates for other skincare treatments because of allergies, skin sensitivity, or pregnancy. It can also be a great option for big events for a quick boost to your skin. Dermaplaning is most often combined with other treatments like a chemical peel or IPL to help boost results. During a consultation with our team, you’ll develop a personalized treatment plan based on your unique goals.
The Treatment Process
Dermaplaning can be performed right in our Pensacola office. To begin, you’ll discuss your specific goals with our team and determine the best approach. Once you’re ready, any makeup will be removed and your skin will be cleansed. Then, your skincare specialist will apply a surgical scalpel held at an angle to the skin with quick scraping motions. This process collects fine hairs, dead skin cells, and debris from the surface of the skin. Once the area has been completely treated, the skin will be soothed and made ready for the rest of your day.
Recovery and Results
Dermaplaning comes with very few side effects. It’s normal to have some redness and sensitivity for a day or two but it can be covered with cosmetics if needed. Your skin will be sensitive to sun damage so make sure to wear SPF 30+ daily. Dermaplaning can be performed every 3-4 weeks as a way to maintain luminous, healthy skin and continually stimulate new collagen production. During your consultation with our team, you’ll receive a personalized treatment schedule based on your skincare goals.
